P. D. McLean Award

In commemoration of the energy, tact, and dedication of P. D. McLean, one of the founders and first chairman of the Road Gang, the annual P. D. McLean Memorial Award was established in 1962. This is a fitting tribute in P. D. McLean, who, as Assistant Director of the National Highway Users Conference, and in other capacities, devoted his entire career to the advancement of highway transportation.

The award is presented annually to an individual whose achievements in any of the highway transportation related fields qualify them to receive this distinct honor. The Award is given “for a distinct contribution to the cause of better highway transportation in the public interest.”

Any person is eligible to be nominated for this award. However, a nomination can only be made by a Road Gang member. An Award Committee is appointed each year by the Chairperson, and the committee is responsible for selecting the recipient.

All nominations should be forwarded in writing to the Secretary. The Award features an appropriate plaque to visibly demonstrate the esteem and honor of the recognition bestowed by peers. It is formally presented at the Annual Meeting of the Road Gang in January.
