Annual Meeting - January 14, 2010
 
The Annual Meeting of the Road Gang was held in the Ambassador Room of the Omni Shoreham Hotel on Thursday, January 14, 2010 during the Transportation Research Board’s Annual Meeting. 
 
Mark Norman, standing in for Bob Skinner, TRB, reported that attendance at the TRB Annual Meeting was up only slightly from 10,100 last year but not as high as 10,500 two years ago.
 
Six new nominees were approved as members.
 
Taylor Bowlden, 3M became the 2010 Chairman and Jeoung Lee was appointed 4th Vice Chair.

We are very pleased to announce that Pete Rahn, Director, Missouri Department of Transportation will be our featured speaker. Pete will discuss “Meeting Our Growing Transportation Challenges In An Era of Reduced Resources"
 
A cash bar will open at 11:30a.m., lunch will be served at 12:15p.m., followed by Awards and our Keynote Address. The meeting will end by 2:00p.m.

February 15th - Annual dues of $35 were due to Secretary: 6204 43rd St, Hyattsville MD 20781.

 

Tuesday, February 24 - Road Gang Luncheon at Ritz Carlton Hotel in Pentagon City.  This Luncheon is combined with the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Washington Briefing, featuring the Honorable Ray H. LaHood, Secretary of Transportation as keynote speaker.   This Luncheon is full.

Renew." surface transportation authorization proposal, an alternative approach to developing, implementing and funding our nation’s transportation system for the 21st century.

 

October 23 -- Ronald F. Kirby, Director of Transportation Planning, Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments.  Ronald F. Kirby is director of transportation planning for the National Capital Rfegion Transportation Planning Board.  Since joining the Council of Governments, Ron has been responsible for long range planning for highway and public transportation systems in the Washington, DC area.  Ron will "connect the dots" between transportation and greenhouse gas emissions in the DC metropolitan area and describe strategies for carbon reductions.

 

November 6 -- Jeff Davis, Editor & Publisher, Transportation Weekly.  A post-election discussion of the outlook for transportation in 2009.  Jeff will share his thoughts on the prospects for the reauthorization bill and a struggling Highway Trust Fund given a new administration and potentially new dynamics in Congress next year.
